MLDP Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to apply?

-Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

When will MLDP take place?

-Program sessions take place every Tuesday from 5:30-7:45 PM. Dinner will be provided. A complete schedule, including optional session options, will be provided at the first MLDP session.  The first session of fall term is September 28, 2010.

Where will the sessions take place?

-Rocky 001 and 002, unless noted on schedule

How will students sign up for Winter and Spring 2011 Programs?

-The Rockefeller Center utilizes electronic application submissions via Blackboard.
-Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each term, sixty students will be invited to participate in the program.
-Students can apply for any term at any time, but must note the deadlines for the end of each application cycle.

What are the MLDP requirements?

-In order to receive the MLDP certificate of completion, participants must attend all but one of the essential sessions, complete the weekly survey for sessions attended, and complete a Personal Development Plan.

What kind of commitment is required?

-Students are asked to participate in discussion and prepare for the sessions as if they were a regular class. They should consider the time commitment when thinking about applying for MLDP. Weekly, students are asked to complete required readings before each regular session and an assessment tool following the session. Most sessions are two hours long.

Why should I participate in MLDP?

-MLDP is a prerequisite for student assistant and discussion leader positions at the Rockefeller Center.
-MLDP is preferred when applying for internship funding and the Rockefeller Leadership Fellows Program.
-The certification can be listed on your resume as a professional skills development program.
